If you take into account mining Uranium & processing & turning into a 'fuel', the fact is that nuclear power is nowhere near CO2 neutral!! In fact its worse than many of the alternatives like solar & wind these days & of course for every nuke power station you build, you prevent billions in funds & resources from going into 'Renewable' energy.
Domestic energy could be basically FREE within 10 years if we all invested in a small renewable array for our homes.
The saving on bills pays for it!!

At least in California, there are basically prohibitively high expenses for installing solar and/or wind generators on private property (for middle and low income households), which are primarily generated by legislated restrictions. Basically, its too expensive because you are required to higher someone that costs to much to put in the panels/etc. while you're hooked into the grid. Even though otherwise it would be affordable by many households.

I imagine its similar in other states.

In the UK we get a 'grant' from government to install renewables. Once on the grid they pay you 'Renewable Energy Obligation Certificates' (which go towards their 'targets' for renewable energy) & you get paid for the energy you produce even if you use it yourself!
Even with the expensive electrician to put it in, it still pays for itself within 5 to 7 years which means you get ALL your money back in 'savings' on energy bills.
Thats a 15 - 20% return pa!
Show me another investment that good now.

Oh, I still think its worth it, even in CA, long term. The problem is that people can't afford the initial costs here.

Also, we can also "sell back" to the grid as well. However we never get grants or aid for installing them (for private homes) unless there's a tax-payed bond floated for businesses (which is usually a municipal deal).

Buid a nuclear plant next to McCain's ranch in AZ, he's already had cancer 3 or 4 times, what's once more...he was all for nuclear plants, but probably not in his backyard...as usual.

Nuclear is dangerous, it produces dangerous waste, maybe we could give a big scoop of it to all the politicans to bring home. Such idiotic proposals, it's insanity run amuck.
