This has been going on since, I believe, 1997. This is not crop dusting and this is no conspiracy theory. The government will not admit what is going on and deny spraying anything with planes but there is much evidence to suggest otherwise. Although the government denies such things, they still have used the word chemtrail in the Space Preservation Act of 2001, H.R. 2977. This is the opening statement of the bill:
“To preserve the cooperative, peaceful uses of space for the benefit of all humankind by permanently prohibiting the basing of weapons in space by the United States, and to require the President to take action to adopt and implement a world treaty banning space-based weapons.”
In section seven of this bill are definitions of space-based weapons, notice that chemtrails is included here:
” (B) Such terms include exotic weapons systems such as–
(i) electronic, psychotronic, or information weapons;
(ii) chemtrails;
(iii) high altitude ultra low frequency weapons systems;
(iv) plasma, electromagnetic, sonic, or ultrasonic weapons;
(v) laser weapons systems;
(vi) strategic, theater, tactical, or extraterrestrial weapons; and
(vii) chemical, biological, environmental, climate, or tectonic weapons.”
Unfortunately this was never passed, meaning that chemtrailand all these other weapons can be used and are not banned. Kind of scary.
But it is uncertain what chemtrails are used for. This is where the conpiracy theory comes from. Here are some of the possible reasons I have come accross:
weather modification
adding ozone to our atmosphere to block out solar flares
spraying of toxic substances such as borium, viruses and such to make the population sicker.
Like I said, this is where the conspiracy theory comes to play. We are not real sure what they are used for but many are positive they are being used to make the population sick.
Chemtrails and contrails at first look to be the same thing. But if the contrail does not vanish after about 15 seconds then it is a chemtrail. Chemtrails do not vanish. Instead the spread out and you will also notice many of them criss cross making grids in the sky. Don’t let others tell you that you are crazy. You are not. What you have witnessed is very real.
By the way, for those of you that believe weather modification is still not real then do some research. Even on the discovery channel there has been a show called Owning the weather, it can be viewed on You tube in 5 segments. Also, review the us patent office you will find weather modification patents have been created since the 1920′s. Here are just a few:

There’s over 100 more patents to look up. So I wish people would quite calling everyone who believes in this stuff a conspiracy theory and start doing some research.

Chemtrails is just a crazy conspiracy theory. What you see behind planes are contrails, simple condensation of water.
The condensation trail left behind jet aircrafts are called contrails. Contrails form when hot humid air from jet exhaust mixes with environmental air of low vapor pressure and low temperature. The mixing is a result of turbulence generated by the engine exhaust. Cloud formation by a mixing process is similar to the cloud you see when you exhale and “see your breath”.
Crop spraying is a different thing. Crops are spayed with pesticides from low-flying propellor planes.
Mosquito control
I have seen cropdusters in action, if that is what you mean. They spray chemicals for pest control and others to bring large fields to maturity at approximately the same time, among a list of reasons.
